Are ILIA products vegan?Updated 5 months ago
Not only are ILIA Beauty products cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny certified, but all except 6 of our products are vegan as well. The only ingredient we use that is not vegan is beeswax, which is ethically sourced and no bees were harmed in the making of those products. For our mascara, the beeswax is produced in Europe and they work with local suppliers to supply the beeswax. More often than not, you have to have natural or synthetic beeswax when creating a mascara with a more natural formula. Synthetic beeswax always contains mineral oil, so we chose to forego it. Our manufacturer guarantees that the beeswax is organic and sustainably harvested. Europe has much stricter laws than the U.S. in this regard.
